Getting started…

The OCA logo image

This blog is now structured with the essential categories required for you to post work relating to the structure of the MA Fine Art programme. It is intended to just help you get started with your  Learning Journal, and you may wish to customise it to suit your own preferences.

First, you will need to setup your Primary Menu so it is visible to your tutors and fellow students. To do this, go to ‘Appearance’ > ‘Menus’ in the vertical navigation bar of the ‘WP Admin’ area of this site. Then, if it isn’t already open, select the menu that relates to the MA Fine Art programme next to where it says ‘Select a menu to edit’. Now, at the foot of that page (you’ll need to scroll down), you tick the ‘Primary Menu’ box before clicking the ‘Save Menu’ button in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Now, when you go back to view your site, the menus will all be visible as drop-downs (the exact location of the menu and what it looks like will be determined by your chosen WordPress Theme.)

Posting into categories

When making new posts, you just need to add a tick next to each category that the post relates to. The categories options can be found in the right-hand column whenever you create or edit a post.

Categorising

You can select more than one category if appropriate.  Make sure you tag a post with at least one category, or it may not be visible through your blog’s navigation.

To learn how to keep a blog, the WordPress help pages are invaluable as a learning resource: http://en.support.wordpress.com/

We would like to thank OCA Photography tutor Robert Enoch for providing the template upon which this MA Fine Art blog template was based.
